Sonic the Hedgehog redesigned

Yes! The famous video game character Sonic the Hedgehog gets a new look in the eponymous live-action movie. In the trailer that was released on Tuesday, you can see an improved version of the blue Hedgehog game character. Click here to view the new trailer.

In May 2019, the first trailer was released for the film Sonic the Hedgehog. Many people complained on social media that they were not satisfied, to say the least, with the appearance of Sonic. People critized the hedgehog’s teeth: that would be “too human”. But also his legs would be too scrawny and his eyeballs too tiny. Sonic looked like a monstrosity that never should have never seen the light of day.

Filmstudio Paramount Pictures, therefore, recommended postponing the release date of the film and redesigning the character. “You are not happy with the design and want changes. That will happen,” director Jeff Fowler said on Twitter.

The new Sonic has larger and more expressive eyes, shorter legs and less detailed teeth. The new trailer is receiving a great positive response on social media.

However, Yuji Naka, the original creator of Sonic, has shared his opinions on the redesign as well. While most people are extremely positive about the new version, Naka remains critical and is surprised with the fact that Paramount pictures discarded the previous version of Sonic. Naka tweeted: “It seems they’re making it as if the old design didn’t exist, as the movie official account’s old tweets were deleted,”  “I wanted to see a special DVD version of the movie which used the old design. Too bad.” Nevertheless, he stated that the new design is a lot more Sonic-like as he is now wearing gloves and is looking forward to the movie’s release and so are we!
